Summary
This member network event is hosted by the CIEEM Scotland Committee to tie in with the CIEEM Scotland conference ‘Source to Sea: Working Across Landscapes
#SourcetoSea2025
Description
At this Scotland Conference post visit we will join the Forth Rivers Trust to visit a site near the town of Blackford along the Allan Water. Work has been ongoing on the site in stages for more than 5 years, (attempting to allow natural processes to reinstate) and ongoing on the Allan Water itself for more than a decade. On the site itself (much like on the rest of the Allan Water), there is a history of artificially straightening and embanking the river to ensure it does not impact the national rail lines that runs through the area. Over the last 5 years the Forth Rivers Trust have undertaken tree planting, large woody structure installation, wetland recreation, breaking of field drains and reconnection of the floodplain by lowering part of the artificial embankment.
The site itself is a great showcase – it borders a SSSI, is a place of local historical/mythological significance and has been monitored consistently as part of several side collaborations Forth Rivers Trust have been part of through the years.
Amelia Heath is the Director at Forth Rivers Trust.

In 2023, Amelia was appointed permanent Co-Director of the Trust and in 2025 she was appointed Director.
