Green-winged orchids and associated mycorrhizal fungi

Description

We will be hearing from Viswambharan Sarasan, who's research is centered on the identification and application of fungal mycorrhizae to advance orchid conservation. My team investigates the soil microbiome, employing DNA metabarcoding techniques to elucidate the distribution and abundance of mycorrhizal fungi. These insights inform the development of policies for conservation translocation initiatives. Additionally, an emerging focus of my work involves utilizing native orchids to improve landscapes to improve connections between people and the natural environment.
