Exploring Nationally Important Parkland and Habitats at Windsor Great Park

Summary

Join fellow ecologists and environmental managers from across the South East for an afternoon of insight, discussion and exploration in the stunning surroundings of Windsor Great Park.

Description

This event offers a welcoming space to connect with colleagues from across the sector, hear updates from the region, and explore the varied landscapes of Windsor Great Park. We will have a guest speaker – Ed Cooper from Biocap - to talk about his experience of habitat creation for BNG Habitat Banks. The relaxed format is designed to encourage conversation, idea sharing and professional connection throughout the afternoon.

Following the indoor session, Biodiversity and Conservation Manager Des Sussex will lead a leisurely 1.5 mile walk through one of the UK’s most iconic landscapes. Windsor Great Park is not only a Royal Estate and Grade I Registered Park and Garden, but also contains nationally important SSSI and SAC habitats. Along the route we will come across ancient trees, wood pasture and parkland, flower rich grassland, landscape recovery work, organic farming, invasive species challenges and—if we’re lucky—native breed conservation grazing. After the walk, members are warmly invited to stay on at the York Club bar for drinks, snacks and informal socialising, offering further opportunity to build connections with peers from across the region.
