Description
This course will cover essential skills for ecologists to conduct bat surveys to a high standard, in line with current legislation and best-practice guidelines. We will review the laws protecting bats in the UK and Ireland, explore key aspects of bat ecology and important features for identifying bats, discuss different types of roosts and how to detect signs of roosts, and examine various methods of bat surveying, including preparation, selecting suitable equipment, and compiling all survey data into clear, concise reports.
Throughout the course, we will also explore how to communicate effectively with clients, a vital aspect of an ecologist's role, to ensure a positive outcome for bats.
The training approach will blend presentations, case studies, and scenarios with small group activities.
