Summary
The purpose of this course is for learners to attain the knowledge and practical competences required to deal with the range of emergency first aid situations. The course is made up of two units, the first being that of Emergency First Aid at Work. The aims are for learners to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of the first aider including equipment, record keeping and basic hygiene.
Course certificates will be valid for 3 years from the date of the end of the first aid course.
Description
This comprehensive Outdoor First Aid course provides the skills and confidence to assess, treat, and manage a wide range of medical emergencies in outdoor environments. Participants will learn casualty assessment and monitoring, incident management using the ABCDE approach, airway management, CPR, AED use, and the treatment of breathing and circulation emergencies, including bleeding, shock, and cardiac events.
The course also covers traumatic injuries, head and spinal management, environmental conditions such as hypothermia and hyperthermia, common medical emergencies including asthma, diabetes, anaphylaxis, stroke and epilepsy, as well as outdoor-specific illnesses, bites and stings. Additional topics include emergency communications, accident reporting, triage, and practical outdoor incident scenarios to develop real-world first aid skills.
