Description

Join Caitlin from the Marine Conservation Society to hear about an exciting restoration partnership project in the Firth of Forth, Scotland. Restoration Forth is an ambitious, innovative project trialling the restoration of European flat oysters and seagrass meadows, empowering communities to become champions of their local environment and working to influence government policy on nature restoration in Scotland. Since the project was launched in 2022 the team have researched potential sites and trialled methods for restoring both seagrass and oysters, setting baselines for each species. The team also works with local communities, supporting them to get involved through education, training, and volunteering opportunities.

Caitlin is the Restoration Forth Community Engagement Lead, working with the project partners to deliver a range of public engagement events around the Firth of Forth. She is responsible for finding innovative ways to involve people in oyster and seagrass restoration as well as advocacy and citizen science opportunities.
