Spring woodland botanical ID practice

Summary

Practise identifying and learning about woodland plants with likeminded people in a relaxed setting at Nidd Gorge ancient woodland near Knaresborough in North Yorkshire

Description

This event will give attendees the opportunity to practise identifying plants using books and keys, facilitated by FISC 4 botanist Clare Cashon an experienced Ecologist Justin Byrne.

All levels are encouraged.

This event will comprise a walk from the car park at Nidd Gorge through the woodland near the River Nidd to look at plants we find which will include ancient woodland indicator plants, a range of trees and plants those associated with rivers and wetlands.

Please bring any plant books, keys, and hand lenses if you have them but the group leader will have enough to go round.

Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather and bring waterproofs, warm layers, sun hat, suncream and sturdy footwear appropriate for changes in conditions and uneven ground.

Please bring plenty of water and a packed lunch.

The site is not accessible as it is has much steep and uneven ground.

No toilets will be available during the event but there should be toilets in Knaresborough centre.
