Lunchtime chats with the Marine Planning Unit: Marine Planning in Ireland and what we should know

Summary

Join us as we chat to a representative from the Marine Planning Unit on the 28th October. We are delighted to get this opportunity to hear about some of the changes that will be coming soon in relation to Marine Spatial Planning and how that might affect our work as Ecologists.

Description

Ireland is currently putting in place a comprehensive new approach to marine planning. The Draft Marine Spatial Plan for Ireland has undergone a public consultation and is being finalised, to be adopted by the Oireachtas and sent to the European Commission, ahead of the March 2021 deadline set out in the Marine Spatial Plan Directive.

With these changes in the management of our marine space coming soon, it is important for us to keep informed in what they might mean for our work and our environment. We are delighted to have a representative from the Marine Planning Unit to discuss with us the upcoming legislation and policy and how they may affect us as ecologists and our work on development projects.
