Call for Papers

The growing complexity of environmental challenges from climate change to biodiversity loss, demands decisions that are grounded in robust, timely, and context-relevant evidence. Yet, a persistent gap often exists between ecological research and the practical needs of policymakers, land managers, and communities. This conference seeks to confront that challenge head-on.

We invite contributions that explore the causes and consequences of, and present solutions to the evidence gap in ecology and environmental management. We are particularly interested in interdisciplinary and applied research that aims to enhance the relevance, accessibility, and uptake of ecological knowledge in decision-making processes.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Case studies demonstrating successful integration of evidence into environmental policy or practice
  • How evidence informs proportional survey effort for monitoring species and habitats
  • Evidence based approaches to habitat creation and enhancement in and outside of Biodiversity Net Gain
  • Frameworks for co-producing knowledge with stakeholders
  • Novel methods for synthesising ecological data for management use
  • Barriers to evidence uptake and strategies for overcoming them
  • The role of open science, data sharing, and knowledge brokering
  • Systematic reviews, evidence maps, and decision-support tools in conservation
  • Equity and inclusion in evidence generation and application
  • How Local and Traditional Ecological Knowledge inform practice

We welcome submissions from researchers, practitioners, and policy professionals working across ecological disciplines, environmental management, conservation science, and sustainability studies.
