Marine careers are becoming ever more important in our changing world. Our oceans provide livelihoods, food, energy and essential carbon storage and therefore those of us who work to sustain them at a healthy level are vital. However, it can be daunting to take your first steps into such a wide ranging and fast-moving career path.
For this webinar, the Marine & Coastal and Early Careers Special Interest Groups from CIEEM have combined forces with the Marine Biological Association (MBA) to tackle some of the mystery of marine careers. The webinar will include talks from three fantastic MBA speakers: Maya Plass, Head of Engagement at the MBA, Stephanie Day, a PhD researcher specialising in how organic nutrients sustain shelf sea productivity, and Dr Clare Ostle, Co-ordinator Pacific CPR Survey. Their talks will cover what their job roles consist of as well as their journey to where they are today.
Following these talks, a presentation will be delivered on CIEEM and MBA membership, and the ways in which you can member resources to aid the search for your marine career. The webinar will finish with a question and answer session in which audience members can direct any queries towards a panel including the three MBA speakers as well as the Convenor of the Early Careers Special Interest Group and a member of the CIEEM membership team.
