The Basics of Running a Business: One Size Does Not Fit All
The nuts and bolts of running a business as a freelancer, or in a very small company

Join us to discuss the basics of running your own freelance practice or very small company, including basic money management and how to charge yourself out, insurance, the type of business to choose, how to structure your company, what you do for an office, what types of work you should take on, and more! The Freelance Practitioner Committee Panel will kick things off by briefly explaining in turn how they run their own businesses, followed by responding to comments and answering questions from other participants. So if you have a burning questioning or an ongoing anxiety about how to do things, come along and join the conversation.
This event is part of a series of virtual bunch events, so grab yourself a cuppa/tasty snack and make yourself comfortable! These regular, relaxed discussions aim to help you share and solve common problems as a freelancer or someone working in a very small business, and can also be a good platform by which to suggest ways CIEEM and the SIG may further support you.
Where you feel comfortable, your engagement as a participant will help make the most of the time we have by broadening and deepening the discussion, and by including 'real-life' examples. Please come prepared with any items you’d like to talk about - as the saying goes, a problem shared is a problem halved. Each event is held in confidence in order to encourage free and frank discussion and will not be recorded, so please do attend on the day.
