Description

CIEEM are delighted to open bookings for our 2023 Irish Conference. This will be the first gathering of our members in four years and we are excited to bring us back together again in the Raddison Blu, Athlone on the 25th of April.

Nature Positive is a global movement that advocates for having more nature at the end of the decade than at the start. The Nature Positive mission is to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030 and has been committed to by the G7 leaders as well as 50 countries, including Ireland and the UK, committing to protecting at least 30% of the worlds land and ocean by 2030.

But what does this mean in the context of the island of Ireland? What will success look like? What are we already doing to move towards this goal and what needs to change if we are going to be fully successful.

In the 2023 CIEEM Irish conference we are bringing Ecologists and Environmental Managers together to understand the challenges that face us in delivering Nature Positive and how we can help overcome them. We have confirmed a series of distinguished speakers covering a range of topics - see the programme for more details.

We are also delighted to announce that we will welcome the Minister of State for Heritage and Electoral Reform, Malcolm Noonan, who will deliver an opening address to our delegates.

Malcolm Noonan was appointed as Minister of State for Heritage and Electoral Reform in the summer of 2020 and oversees departments such as the National Parks and Wildlife Service, the Heritage council and the National Biodiversity Data Centre. In his time in office he has been a strong advocate for the natural environment and we are delighted to have the Minister address our membership and sector. His talk will open a programme of distinguished speakers discussing a Nature Positive Ireland, and is not to be missed.

This is not an event to be missed and you can book your spot now.
