The webinar will provide an introduction to the process of grassland creation from beginning to end. It will help you to decide objectives (including ecosystem services), consider the different opportunities and constraints linked to soils and location, choose the most suitable community, decide on appropriate ground preparation, think about future management, decide where to get your seed/plants, select suitable sowing methods and rates, and consider aftercare and monitoring. The course will be illustrated with a range of grassland creation schemes in different parts of the country and demonstrate succession after establishment. Some references will be provided to those who register for the webinar.

Description

Creating new wildflower-filled grasslands provide benefits for a plethora of wildlife and people’s wellbeing. Flower and butterfly -filled spaces provide the ‘wow’ factor. Over 95% of wildflower-filled grasslands have been lost over last 70 years and are still being lost, even in protected areas.
