Protected Mammals (excluding bats) Survey

Description

This will be a classroom based workshop covering an introduction or refresher for survey for protected mammal species (excluding bats). The following species will be covered: badger, otter, water vole, red squirrel with mention of pine marten and wildcat. There will be no field visit, but some field signs will be on display in the classroom. The day will cover an overview of ecology of each species, survey methods and field signs for these species.
Opportunity will be given for questions and discussion of project queries and experiences. Advice on further reading and key references will be given.
