Description

The East Midlands Member Network invites you to join us for an in-person meet up at Gang Mine, near Wirksworth, at the edge of the Peak District, Derbyshire.

We hope you will be able to join us for an insightful afternoon; sharing knowledge, networking, learning some plants and enjoying the beautiful surrounds.

Gang Mine is an interesting limestone habitat with old lead mining workings. It supports a wide range of botanical and invertebrate species including some rarities.

We will be joined by staff from Derbyshire Wildlife Trust (DWT), who will be able to provide insight into the management of the site.

Penny Anderson (FCIEEM) will also accompany us; author of the recently released book "Peak District" in the New Naturalists series, which tells of the wonder and magic of the region, revealing its ecological foundations, showing how it has fared over the centuries and projecting what the future might hold. Penny will help us compile a plant list for the reserve to give to the DWT and help everyone with their plant ID skills.

All proceeds raised will be donated to Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, student members can pay on the day.
