Scottish LPA Event to discuss the emerging NPF4 and Developing with Nature Guidance

This event is to bring together Scottish Local Planning Authorities to explore how the policies in NPF4, and specifically Policy 3: Nature Crisis can be implemented. This session will look at the proposed Developing with Nature Guidance with the aim of bringing ideas together on how this can be used to ensure that biodiversity enhancements are in proportion to the nature and the scale of the development.

There will be talks from:

Cara Davidson, Branch Head, Environment and Natural Resources, Planning & Architecture, Scottish Government - Overview of draft NFP4 and Universal Policy 3 (Nature Crisis)

Simon Brooks, Strategic Planning Manager, NatureScot - Developing with Nature guidance – supporting NPF4 ambition

Case studies from industry and local authorities’ representatives where positive effects for biodiversity have been achieved and evidenced using a range of approaches.

Breakout sessions will allow discussions on LPA’s thoughts on implementing NPF4 / Developing with Nature and consideration of positives and potential challenges. For example, does the Developing with Nature guidance provide the information required to enable appropriate biodiversity measures, proportionate to the nature and scale of development, to be selected?

An event write-up will be produced and included in the Scottish newsletter for the wider membership.
