Ecological Assessment of New Woodland Creation: Opportunities and Guidance for Consultants

Description

In response to the climate and biodiversity emergencies the UK government has set an ambitious tree planting target, and has provided various grants and incentives to help achieve it. Tree planting is therefore likely to increase, and woodland creation sites will need ecological assessment. These sites are often of higher ecological interest than a typical development site, so are usually interesting to work on, but present a range of challenges for survey and assessment. Experienced consultants are needed for this work across England; particularly (but not exclusively) breeding wader, NVC and peat surveys in upland areas.

To ensure survey and assessment is of the required standard, we recommend that consultants interested in this work should attend this webinar.

This webinar outlines the work typically involved in such assessments – which sometimes differ from “normal” practice - and provides guidance on the skills and experience expected, as well as an overview of the survey and assessment briefs to be followed.
