This one day training event run by James Simpson will give participants the confidence to carry out their own phase 1 habitat surveys.
A workshop to give participants the confidence to carry out their own phase 1 habitat surveys. This simple technique is essential for describing and mapping vegetation in a standard way, recognised by ecologists throughout the country. For example, it is specified in British Standard BS42020 as the base information for Preliminary Ecological Appraisal. Basic plant identification knowledge is helpful for this workshop.
Please note that this course does not discuss Preliminary Ecological appraisal in detail.
The site provides a typical lowland farmed landscape, with buildings and backs onto a woodland SSSI.
