Biodiversity Metric V4 Training

Description

This course is based on the Biodiversity Metric V4 (Natural England, 2023). It provides training on undertaking metric calculations for a development and its direct impacts on habitats. It also provides training on utilising Biodiversity Metric V4 to support designs of Biodiversity Net Gain both on and off-site. This training will be covered by a 3 hour online sessions and a day in-person.

Please note that this course does not cover details on designing Biodiversity Net Gain for a development, or the River and Streams component of Metric V4 or on Habitat Condition Assessments. Other CIEEM training courses are available on these aspects.

Who Should Attend?

Ecological consultants who design or are involved with Biodiversity Net Gain developments.

EIA practitioners, sustainability and environmental managers working on Biodiversity Net Gain developments who wish to expand their technical knowledge of biodiversity unit calculations.

Local authority ecologists and planners reviewing proposals for, or working on, Biodiversity Net Gain developments.

NGOs and land owners / managers who are involved with Biodiversity Net Gain developments and/or proposing and undertaking biodiversity offsets.

Beginner - Intermediate

Prior Knowledge

This course is aimed at individuals with no previous experience in or knowledge of biodiversity unit calculation, as well as individuals with some experience who wish to develop their skills and knowledge in biodiversity unit calculations.

Learning Outcomes

• Undertake a Biodiversity Metric V4 calculation of the baseline of a development site.
• Undertake a Biodiversity Metric V4 calculation of direct impacts on habitats from a development.
• Use Biodiversity Metric V4 to support the design of Biodiversity Net Gain.
