Description
The Scottish Government’s vision is to expand our woodlands to cover 21% of Scotland’s land area by 2032. Expansion needs to be carefully planned in terms of scale, location and tree species as these will have major impacts on Scotland’s landscape, habitats, species, carbon storage and the economy. What does “The right tree in the right place” mean for Scotland?
This conference will explore how we ensure that ambitious woodland expansion targets are met, whilst delivering increased habitat and species diversity, nature networks and a suite of ecosystem services. The conference will help delegates learn from a range of approaches and case studies of sustainable woodland creation, restoration, and expansion across Scotland. Considering the barriers and opportunities that exist and how they can be addressed.
Site visit
There is an optional, post-conference site visit to the UNESCO and CIEEM Award-winning, Eddleston Water Project, coordinated by the Tweed Forum and project partners. The site visit will take place on Wednesday 4 October. Click here to book your ticket.
